Before the Big Four was a marketing term, it was just four bands from New York trying to out-thrash each other, and Spreading the Disease was Anthrax proving they belonged in that conversation.

Released in 1985, this was the record that locked in the classic Joey Belladonna-era lineup and gave the world "Madhouse" and "A.I.R." It sits in that sweet spot where thrash metal still had something to prove, before it got arena-sized. The artwork holds up the same way the riffs do, which is to say completely. A proper piece for any serious metal or punk collection, and it looks the part on a wall.
